Saltpetre .aboard tiie inter Engineer, bound for Mauritius, ignited in Lorenzo Marquc-s harbour. As the cargo also included carbide, she was towed into mid stream where, after a terrific explosion, she sank. There were no fatalities. A KETCH WRECKED THE CREW SAFE AUCKLAND. June 21. Advice has been receive.! that the ketch Violet, which was recently sold in Auckland, has been wrecked in the Haapai group, of the Tcngan Islands. The vessel sank in twenty fathoms. No lives were lost.
