THE STEAMER HAVRE
NEARING LORD HOWE ISLAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, June 10. A message received yesterday reported that the steamer Havre was two miles off Lord Howe Island. Another me&sage late last night stated that it was becoming increasingly difficult to secure fuel to produce wireless messages, which were then becoming very weak. The master was instructed to bunt flares at the masthead to assist the searching steamers. CHAMPION LOSES TOUCH. SYDNEY, June 10. (Received June 10, 10.25 p.m.) The master of the steamer Havre reports that the tug Champion was in wireless communication yesterday, but by the time the Havre had raised sufficient power to reply the tug’s operator had closed down. THE HAVRE IN TOW. SYDNEY, June 10. (Received June 11, 12.45 a.m.) A wireless message from the Havre states that the tug Champion got into communication last night and took her in tow this morning.
