The professional boxing contest between Les Gleeson (Australia) and Jack Heeney | (Gisborne) went the full fifteen rounds. I Gleeson was awarded the decision on points by a narrow margin between the pair. In the heavyweight professional contest Toni Heeney (Gisborne) beat George Modrich | (Auckland) on points.
