WELLINGTON, June 0. ] The Minister of Public Health stated to- j flay that influenza is not to ho a notifiable I disease any longer, and that notifications will cease in a week or so. Pneumonic cases and cases of preat severity will he notified under their projier ntediral descript ions, hut 1 simple influenza will not he notified. These j serious cases will in future he the index of the severity or otherwise of sickness in the country. During this last wave the notifications have not been any assistance, to anyone. About one per cent, of the cases notified have been serious, and every notification carries n fee of .'is fid to the medical man. The cost of this notification plan during the recent wave has been no less than EISOO. Mr Parr said that the decision to cease notification of influenza, is in conformity with the practice adopted in other countries recently.
