Saturday was the coldest June day since 1862. The cold is causing losses among the emaciated stock in the drought areas. A FUMIGATION ACCIDENT. TWO MEN ASPHYXIATED. MELBOURNE, June 7. (Received June 7, 8 p.m.) Upon the arrivtd from New Zealand of the Union Company’s steamer Kamu she was fumigated. Subsequently Carter, the chief steward, and Nixon, the watchman, were fatally asphyxiated in the engineers’ cabin. They apparently had closed the door

owing to the cold before the fumes escaped.
