OTAGO PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE. REMITS ADOPTED. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, June 5. The Farmers’ Union Conference resolved to prote.t against military training camps extending over a period of more than three or four months; that the Government be urged to take steps to prevent meat trusts monopolising the export trade of the dominion; that the Minister of Justice bs written to protesting against undesirables being sent into the country by ci y magistrates; that the Government be asked in fixing the price of wheat to dead with the mutter not later than November in each year to allow farmers to prepare for growing crons; that the conference considers the time has arrived for a shipping line to be owned by the producers and the Government ; that the levy on local bodies for the purpose of raising the necessary funds for hospital and charitable aid purposes unduly taxes holders of rural properties, and that (he Government be asked to alter it so as to raise the money on a more equitable basis.
It was derided to support the resolution passed at the meat and wool conference asking the Government to appoint a highly qualified man in New Zealand and one in England to look after the disposal of dominion produce. The meeting further expressed the opinion that the appointment should be detached from the High Commissioner’s office.
