SHORT OF COAL

STEAMER CALLS FOR AID. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, June 6. (Received June 6, 5.5 p.m.) The steamer Havre from Dunedin to Newcastle reported by wireless on Saturday that she was short of coal, having only just sufficient, to keep steerage way. She asked for assistance and the tug Champion was despatched from Sydney at 1.30 on Saturday with coal. She expects to pick up the Havre at 9 to-night and will tow her to Newcastle.
