FISH OILS

EFFECT OF THE FEDERAL TARIFF. NEW ZEALAND WHALING PREJUDICED. (Per United Press Association.) BLENHEIM, June d. The Marlborough Chamber of Commerce 10-nighl considered a letter from Mr .1, A. Perano, of Tory Channel, pointing out that Australia was imposing an increased tariff on the importation of all fish oils from ouo. penny to eightpence per gallon. This would seriously hamper the New Zealand whaling industry', as Australia was its chief market. The Chamber resolved to write to the Minister of Customs asking him to endeavour to induce the Cabinet to communicate with the Commonwealth authorities with a view of having the tariff reduced or a preferential duty placed on New Zealand oils.
