WEATHER RETURNS

RETURNS FOR MAY. FINE SPELL BREAKS. The fine spell of weather experienced in Southland .broke during the month, and the weather returns show the break as having occurred on May 20. From that date onward the weather continued wet and boisterous, with driving squalls, accompanied by sleet and hail. The prevailing winds over the first portion were easterly, with little rain.
