THE SOUTHLAND BUILDING SOCIETY.

To the Editor. Sir, —The annual meeting of the shareholders in the above society takes place during the current month. At this meeting three directors are to be elected. Might I ask if the shareholders of this society are to be again represented by a director who holds a similar position in the Permanent Investment and Loan Association ? Thd two societies exist for the same purpose and compete for the same class of business. It is not in the best interests of the Southland Building Society that one of their directors should be the President of the rival concern. Trusting that the shareholders will hear this matter in mind when the election takes place,—l am, etc., SHAREHOLDER. Invercargill, May 17.
