VISIT OF THE PRINCE OF WALES.
To the Editor. Sir, —Thursday will be a red letter day in the history of Invercargill and great preparations are under way to make the visit a memorable one. Decorations are to be carried out on a large scale and we hope the enthusiasm displayed in the most southern corner of the Empire will be as striking as that shown by northern provinces. Every attention seems to be given to the big things, but the small matters up to the present are apparently overlooked. Alongside the arch in the Crescent is a fenced plot and here and elsewhere in the vicinity is to be seen unsightly grass which should be cleaned up. Invercargill streets can boast of having a fair share of grass, but on such a special occasion surely the Council will see to it that the route chosen for the Prince is in apple pie order.—l am, etc., OBSERVANT. Invercargill, November 17.
