Mr Charles Schwab, in a speech, said that the United States contemplated the con* struction of the largest warship in the world. It would be 1000 feet long, 104 feet wide, and of 60,000 tons displacement It. would cany twelve 16-inch guns, sad cost about 50,000,000 dollars. WANGANUI SENSATION C. E. MACKAY REMANDED. BAIL REFUSED. (Per United Press Association.) WANGANUI, May 17. As the outcome of the sensational shootmg incident on Saturday afternoon, C. E. Mack ay was remanded for a week at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, on e charge of the attempted murder of Walter Darcy Creeswell. Bail was refused, prosecuting counsel stating that the injured man was not yet out of danger.
