REVOLT IN MEXICO
LARGE CAPTURES OF BOOTY. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) MEXICO CITY, May 17. (Received May 18, 1.15 a.m.) The revolutionists captured 2000 prisoners, 24 trains, four pieces of artillery, 200 machine-guns, and a great quantity of ammunition and gold and silver bars. The fighting began on Friday morning, and after a three hours’ battle Carranza and the leading members of his party abandoned their trains and fled in automobiles, escorted by 500 cavalry. The rebel cavalry are pursuing them. Unconfirmed reports on Friday said that Carranza had been captured. CARRANZA’S WHEREABOUTS UNCERTAIN. NEW YORK, May 16. Reports from Mexico City state that the whereabouts of Carranza is still unknown. Another report states that Carranza has arrived at Vera Cruz. THE PROVISIONAL PRESIDENT. WASHINGTON. May 17.
