FORESTRY

COURT QUEEN OF THE SOUTH. The ordinary meeting of Court Queen of the South was held in the Friendly Socie- | ties’ Hall, Tay street, on Wednesday evenj ing, the Chief Ranger, Sister F. Hamilton, 1 presided. Official visits were received from the following Courts Southern, Pride of Edendale, Royal Oak (Wyndham), Star of the Forest (Wodiands), and Star of the South. Visitors were also present from Balclutha and Court Loyal Northland (Wellington). Apologies for absence were received from the district secretary, P.D.C.R. Brn. Richard Folley, and P.C.R. Bro. T. Me Natty. The toasts to the visitors were proposed by P.C.R.’s Sisters Baird. Grey, Liddell, McNeill and Carr and were resjxmded to by P.C.R.’s Bros. J. Barraclough (Woodlands), J. Horan (Southern), W. Checketts (Star of the South), C.R. Bros. A. H. Jones (Court Royal Oak), the C.R. of Pride of Edendale, P.C.R. C. W. Patton and W. Sampson. One new member was duly initiated by the Chief Ranger assisted by P.C.R. Sister Groves, S.C.R. Sister H. Sterling, and the officers. Several visiting members congratulated the Court upon the excellence of the initiation ceremony as performed by the officers named. The secretary (P.D.C.R. Bro. A. W. Jones) reported that a liberal response was being received to an appeal on behalf of a distressed member, and the allocation of the fund was left to him and the treasurer with power to act. After the close of a very successful meeting the visitors were entertained at a social when a most enjoyable evening was spent. The following contributed items;— Sisters Winn (Wyndham), Liddell, H. Sterling, E. A. Joss (Court Queen of the ; South) and Palmer (C.R. of Court Princess of the South Juvenile Foresters), Bro. A. Todd (Wyndham), and Messrs Gordon Reed and McNeill. Sisters Lyons, Donaldson and Patton assisted at the piano. Prior to the conclusion, C.R. Bro. A. H. Jones (Wyndham) thanked the hostesses on behalf of the visitors for a very pleasant and enjoyable evening. P.D.C.R. Bro. A. W. Jones suitably acknowledged on behalf of Court Queen of the South. The singing of “Auld Lang Sype” and the National Anthem brought to a close one of the most successful and enjoyable gatherings of Foresters yet held in Invercargill.
