THE JOCKEYS’ DISPUTE. PROSPECTS FOR THE ROYAL MEETING. (Special to the Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. The members of the New Zealand Jockeys’ Association are becoming impatient at the delay which they have experienced in arranging for a conference with their employers in regard to the existing industrial dispute. A public meeting of members of I labour unions is to be held in Christchurch f on Friday night to consider the position and it is suggested that unless the Minister of Labour is prepared to call an early conference of the parties there may be trouble at the Christchurch Royal Race Meeting on Saturday. Organised labour in Christchurch has been approached by the Jockeys’ Association and the public meeting will be held under the auspices of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council. In regard to the rumour that there may be trouble at the C-J.C.’s Royal race meeting on Saturday next, it is pointed out by racing men, that, even if the Jockeys’ Association were to declare a strike there would still be no dearth of riders, since some jockeys never belonged to the Association and others have recently resigned from it. BOWLING. NEW ZEALANDERS IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, May 11. (Received May 11, 10.30 p.m.) In a six rinks match New Zealand scored 159 to Hunter’s Hill 100.
