The Government Is applying to the Commodities’ Commission to reduce the price of wheat and clothes. MARCONI WIRELESS SCHEME. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SYMPATHETIC, MELBOURNE, May 11. The Government is considering Marconi’s wireless scheme for Linking up Australia with the rest of the Empire, and requests for the establishment of stations at Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands. The question to be decided is whether the Government can afford to do the work itself or must allow it to be done by private enterprise. WEST AUSTRALIAN LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. PERTH, May 11. The biennial election for the Legislative Council was marked by apathy on the part of voters. No political issue of outstanding importance was raised. The figures are incomplete. A bare majority of the sitting members were re-elected. EGGS AND MILK. SYDNEY, May 11. (Received May 11, 10.30 pan.) Eggs are selling wholesale at 3s 2d a dozen. This is a record. Owing to diminished supplies as a result of the drought, the price of milk has been increased two-pence per gallon.
