THE BONUS. DISSATISFACTION IN THE PROFESSION (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 10. The executive of the Educational Institute has had under consideration the bonus to teachers recently approved by Cabinet, The bonus is regarded as quite inadequate even as a relief of the present position and as having no bearing on the wider question of the reasonable remuneration of a professional body . In an interview to be held next Saturday with the Minister of Education the executive will submit the claims of the profession in regard to the system of control, basis of payment, and scale of salaries. ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES A MOTORMAN CRUSHED, DEATH IN HOSPITAL. (Per United Press Association.), DUNEDIN, May 10. Andrew Logan, a widower, aged 50, residing at Caversharn, died at the Dunedin Hospital yesterday morning as the result of an accident which occurred on the evening of April 30. Logan was a motor-man in the employ of the tramway department. While adjusting the destination sign in front of his car he was crushed between that car and another which was immediately in front. He was attended by a doctor and apparently improved, but on Saturday he became worse and was removed to the hospital, where he died as stated. An inquest was held this afternoon, but : was adjourned to permit of a post mortem examination being made. A SHOOTING FATALITY. CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. Robert Cochrane Wilson, a retired builder, aged 69, who recently came from Dunedin on a visit to his son, was found dead on the Port Hills on Saturday with a bullet wound in the forehead and a rifle beside him. The evidence at the inquest disclosed that deceased had announced his intention to go shooting on the Hills. A verdict was returned that death was due to a selfinflicted bullet wound from a rifle but there •was not sufficient evidence to show whether the shooting was intentional or accidental DEATH FROM INJURIES. CARTERTON, May 10, E. Downes, who was run over by a horse and cart, died in the Hospital.
