Advices from Vera Cruz state that Generals Obregon and Gonzales entered Mexico City at the head of their armies. The city of Sartirro, in Carranza’s home State, has surrendered. The rebels report that Carranza was made prisoner when Mexico City was captured. FALL OF THE CAPITAL. TAMPICO TAKEN BY THE REBELS. FLIGHT OF CARRANZA. WASHINGTON, May 10. (Received May 10, 7.40 p.m.) The State Department has announced that the rebels under General Obregon, on May 7 took Mexico City and Tampico. Carranza fled. OBREGON CONTROLLING THE CAPITAL. CARRANZA’S ARMY ENVELOPED. NEW YORK, May 9. Received May 10, 10.40 p.m.) Reports from Aquapricta state that General Obregon completely controls Mexico City. Carranza’s party are completely surrounded by revolutionaries between Mexico City and Vera Cruz. It is rumoured that Carranza is endeavouring to reach the United States through the States of Tamanlipas and Nuevo Leon.
CARRANZA’S CAPTURE AGAIN ASSERTED. A MEXICO CITY BUTCHERY. LAST ACT’ OF CARRANZA’S COMMANDER. NEW YORK, May 9. (Received May 11, 1.50 a.m.) It is reported that Carranza was captured by Obregon, who guaranteed him his life. El Paso reports state that Carranza’s military commander in Mexico City, before leaving the city, carried out a wholesale slaughter of political prisoners in the military prison. Fifteen generals were among those kiHed. The city is shocked by this bloody epilogue of Carranza’s regime. PROTECTION OF AMERICAN INTERESTS. MARINES IN READINESS. NEW YORK, May 8. Twelve hundred marines have been ordered to be in readiness to proceed to Mexico to protect American interests. Messages from El Paso indicate that three State capitals have joined the revolution. Communication between Mexico City and tie United States is cut off.
