The Labour Confederation has issued what is practically a general strike order, to operate on Monday. The newspapers are doubtful whether it will elicit wholehearted obedience. The Government continues to arrest the leaders. MELBOURNE BUILDING TRADE. STRIKERS RESUME WORK. MELBOURNE, May 10. Fifty per cent of the striking building employees resumed on Saturday. AFFAIRS IN NEW ZEALAND. THE ISLINGTON SLAUGHTERMEN. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. The slaughtermen’s strike at Lslington, which began a week ago, has ended, the men returning to work to-day.
