The main feature of the measure is the carrying out of the determination of the Convention for the Safety of Life si Sea, held in London following the wreck of the Titanic. OIL FUEL. In the House of Representatives, speaking on the Anglo-Penoan Oil Company Agreement Bill, Mr Hughes said that recently the shortage of oil was so great in Australia that the navy could not have been moved had an emergency arisen. MELBOURNE, May 7. The ballot among wool-growera resulted in the rejection of the scheme of control, as the required percentage of votes in favour was not reached. HOUSING SCHEME. SHORTAGE OF MONEY. SYDNEY, May 6. The Minister for Housing has announced that owing to the shortage of money the Government is unable to grant further fin* social aanßtaaee to people desirous of building their own homes.
