BRISBANE ESTATE AGENTS
OBJECT TO UNDESIRABLES.
(News by Mail). BRISBANE, April 23. “Queensland, and Brisbane in particular, las become a happy hunting ground for mide auctioneers and bogus agents. Gaol turds and thugs have had a free rein to prey upon simple, confiding persons, and swindle their savings out of them,” said a member of a deputation to the Minister of Justice in urging the licensing of land agents in Brisbane. It was pointer! out that bogus partnerthips for returned soldiers, etc., were on the increase, and the Land and Estate Agent;.’ .Association asked the Government to legislate and charge a licensing fee in order to keep undesirables out of the business, which included about 4000 members, 500 of whom were carrying on business in Brisbane. Mr Mullan replied: “It is quite refreshrig to receive a deputation of business ac-n who asked to be taxed, and I asure you that the Government will not inri it difficult to accommodate you. 1 ’ He promised to place the matter before Cabinet with a view to introducing a hill « soon as possible.
