RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before H. M'Culloch, Esq., R.M.) Tuesday, December 16. civil cases. Welch v. South — For the plaintiff, Mr Wade ; Mr Macdonald for the defendant. Owing to the absence of defendant's counsel, the case was adjourned till the 6th of January, 1874. Wearing v. Davies. — -Mr Harvey for the plaintiff, Mr Wade for the defendant. This was a claim for wages to the amount of £84 16s 6d, but as the evidence failed to show that the plaintiff had ever been directly employed by the defendant, the plaintiff was non-suited. No costs were allowed defendant. Matheson and Smith v. Preston, Jenkins, and Evans. — Plaintiffs claimed Is 6d as balance due for goods sold and delivered, together with the costs of recovering the said balance. Judgment for plaintiffs, with costs, 10s. Wednesday, Decembkb 17. LUNACY. Frederick New, who had been remanded for medioaL examination, having been previously brought up on a charge of lunacy, received his discharge. His Worship cautioned prisoner against excessive indulgence in strong drink, as that had been the cause of his recent mental aberration.
