The examination of the various district schools takes place early this month. The South school was examined to-day. At a meeting of the Provisional Directors of the Standard Insurance Company, it was resolved to close tho share list in Ota go on the 17th inst , and in the other provinces on the 21th. Port Chalmers, Dec. 4. The Town Council has resjlved to call for tenders for the construction of waterworks, tenders to be sent in in two weeks.
