FIJI INTELLIGENCE.

Fiji advices have been received via Sydney to ]st October : — Everything was quiet. Several British subjects had notified their intention to protest against Captain Chapman's interference and aiding the Government. The Ba Coast war has ended, and 4000 prisoners have been taken. The new Fijian Cor.stitution provides for twelve nominee native members and eight elected whites, who shall sit for five years, and eight natives or naturalised subjects, to be appointed and dismissed at the pleasure of the King. A President of the Assembly is to be appointed, and a Cabinet holding office during good behavior. No representative of whites is to hold office in the Cabinet, or any office of profit. The principal point in the Constitution is to bind all to preserve the sovereignty of Fiji, unless the kingdom is absolutely invaded and conquered by force of arms.
