COMMERCIAL.
The wool sales opened on the 2nd. 100,000 bales have arrived, of which 5000 were offered. Sydney and Cape wools preponderated. Prices remain the same as last quotations. Competition continues vigorous. Combing, fleece, and greasy are one halfpenny dearer, while clothing sorts remain unchanged. Wheat is unchanged The East and West India Dock Companies notify that they will undertake wool business, and their charges will be 20 per cent, below those hitherto quoted. Their business is being conducted in warehouses specially provided on the south side of the West India dock. The Star of the North, in a gale off the Scilly Islands, threw overboard her cargo of flour.
