The Argus of the 9th inst. reports : —
In breadstuffs a firm market may be noted, and for flour we continue to quote £14 to £14 6s f«r bakers' parcels and £13 10s to £13 15s for larger lines, according to brand. Wheat is wanted, but there are no sellers under 6s 63 for best samples. Oata are firm ; a line of 500 bags good feed brought 5b 4d, and 400 bags fair milling at 6s lOd. Maize is the turn easier, and we quote 4s 9d for parcels and 4s lOd for trade lota. In teas, privately, no Bales of any con■equence come before us. At auction the balance of the cargo of the Gtffrard, consisting of some 1,900 packages, was cleared off, realising from 10|d to Is 6Jd per lb in bond. Currants have been more inquired for, and we learn that over 2CO barrels have been placed at 4f d per lb., duty paid. Brandon's candles have been quitted at 11 |d. In kerosene some 1500 caseß I'evoe'4 have been placed at Is Bd. Of hops, some CO pockets old Kent have been cleared off at a low figure. In liquids there has been very little doing. Sales of Henneesy's brandy are mentioned at 27a 3d.
