INVERCARGILL ELECTION.

. <» (TO THE EDITOB OF TUB TISTES.) Sir, — I am glad to hear that Mr Tapper has been induced to contest the election for the representation of Invercargill in the Provincial Council. His well-known business qualifications should secure Ms return by a large majority; whilst as a new man he would be free to consider the many important measures proposed in the Superintendent's address, unbiassed by party spite. As regards Mr Lumsden, electors should remember that to secure his election in the late Provincial Council, he professed to be a staunch supporter of Mr Macandrew, and on the first opportunity joined Mr Donald Reid. This inconsistency and peculiarly egotistical assumption of a knowledge of constitutional government will, I hope, procure his rejection by the constituency he deceived.— l am, &c., A Votes.
