RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before H. M'Cullooh, Esq., R.M.) Friday, 30tii Mat. Lundin v. Keith. — This was an information laid against defendant for depasturing sheep on tlio Winton Hundred. Mr Macdonald appeared lor informant, and at his rjquost. the case was adjourned to Friday, 6th June, for the production of evidence. Soi/d v. Elliott. — This was a claim for £6, value of a dray sold. Deiendant disputed the prieo, alleging that he considered the dray had been sold to him for £5 10i, and that when ask)d for £6, ho returned the dray, which he had been using. Judgment for defendant, and dray returned. Saturday, 31st Max. McDonald v. Shobrook, M'Denald v. Fairmaid, M Donald v. Dempster, M'Donald v. Austin, were actions to recover school fees in amounts from £1 3s 6d to £3 9s. In none of the cases did defendants appear, an 1 judgment was given for plaintiff, with costs, in each case to the amount of 93. M Donald v. Pike. — This was a similar claim for 19s Bd. Defendant pleaded breach of agreement, alleging that after having specially agreed not to beat his boy, Mr M'Donald had punished him with excessive severity. On the application of defendant the case was adjournei, for fie production of evidence, to Saturday, 7th Juno. Monday, 2nd June. Patrick Ford whs fined 5s or 24 hou*s' imprisonment for being drunk and disorderly on the previous day.
