RESIDE NT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Tuesday, 22nd April. (Before Messrs J. F. Dundas and P. M'Kellar, J.P.'s. Cochran and JBlackwood v. M'Lean and Martin. — Claim for £20, goods Bold and delivered by plaintiffs to defendants at plaintiffs' store at Oteramika. There was no appearance of defendants, and judgment was given far plaintiffs by default, with costs, £3 18s. Patterson and Sons v. Moffett and Sykes — Claim for £10 2s lid for pile-cutting at Grova Bush. Mr Macdonald for plaintiffs, Mr Wad© for defendants. Defendants put in a set-off, and disputed plaintiff's account on the ground that the rate of 9s per day claimed by plaintiffs was in excess of the current rate of wa»es. Thii was the real point at issue, plaintiff* (three ia number) having alleged that defendants had recognised the rate, and that they (plaintiffs) could have obtained the same elsswhere. Judgment for defendants, each party to pay their own costs. M'Robie v. Zee.— Claim for £2 12s Bd, for goods supplied. Judgment for plaintiff, bj default, with 99 costs. Hunter v. Austin. — Claim for £10 43 3d, goods supplied. Judgment for plaintiff, by default, with 19s costs. . Harvey v. Nutter. — Claim for £2 10s, for work and labor done in driving to sale certain horses belonging to an intestate estate. Defendant pleaded payment in accordance with specific agreement with plaintiff. Judgment for defendant, with 9s costs. Thursday, 24/ th Apbix. (Before A.. M'Nab, Esq., J.P.) Elizabeth Wells, charged with being drunk and disorderly, and using abusive and threatening language, was fined 10s, or 14 days' imprisonment, and elected to pay the fine.
