She was proceeding on her voyage from Liverpool to New York, and during the thick and foggy weather, stranded afc Halifax. She was crowded with passengers. The number drowned is 738. The details of the wreck, as published, are harrowing, and the news has caused great sensation. April 2. The revenue for the year amounts to £77,60*0,870, showing a decrease of £1,900,456. Mr Fawcett has withdrawn the University Bill, and moved for leave to introduce another simply abolishing university tests in Ireland. The Government promised to support the measure, but 6 o'clock arriving, the House adjourned without any result being arrived at. Mr Knatchbull-Hugesseu, Under-Se-cretary of State for the Colonies, has introduced in the House of Commons an Amending Customs Bill, in accordance with a ijromise given by the Earl of Kimberley. Under the bill power is given to the Australian Legislatures to enact laws remitting and imposing import duties as regards other colonies, such power to be impartially exercised intercolouially. Duties are not to be at variance with existing treaties between England and foreign powers, nor are duties to be levied on articles required for the supply of the Imperial land and sea forces.
