Auckland, March 21. The Dakota sailed for San Francisco yesterday. No mail agent went by her. Napteu, March 2L. Mr Ebodes has sold his station to Mr Bicb and another Dunedin gentleman for £30,000. DTJNEDUff, March 24. The Dunedin Jockey Club races took place to-day on the Forbury course. The weather was threatening in tbe morning, ] but the rain held off, and after all it turned out to be splendid weather for racing. It is calculated that 3500 persons were present on the course. For the Maiden Plate the following horses started: — Queen Bee, Sweetlips, Ex-Offi-cio, Hard Times, Color Sergeant, Hector, May Morn, Butterfly, Forest Queen, Miss Howe, ITaugh-a-ballagh, and Verbena. The resultj was .* — Butterfly, 1 ; Queen Bee, 2 ; May Morn, 3. Butterfly won by four lengths. The time was 2 mm. _f sees. For the Forbury Handicap there was a capital start, Malabar and Roebuck leading for the first quarter of a mile, being hard pressed however by Patch and Catapult. Mabel then got the lead, passing Tambourini and Hatred in splendid style, and won by a length and a half, Lydia making a good fourth. The ground was heavy. Atlas was scratched. Time, 3min. 2f-secs. Betting .* Tambourini, 3 to 2 ; Misfortune, 5 to 2 ; Malice, 3 to 1; Mabel, 20 to 1, freely offered. For tbe St Kilda Stakes Tambourini was scratched. A good race however followed between Hatred and No Gentleman, the only two other horses entered, wben tbe former won. The Publicans' Handicap was won by Hatred, Merriman being second. This was a splendid race, won by a nose. Time, 2min. 22^secs. The Anniversary Picnic was largely attended and proved a great success. Arrived. — Free Trader, from Hobart Town.
