THE VOLUNTEERS.
A rifle match between six of the T.R V.'s and an equal number of the Artillery Voluntee't, being the first of a Beries of four matches, came off at the Butts yesterday morning. The followin • were the conditions : — Wimbledon target, 8 inch bull's eve, 200 yards standing; Hythe tartlet at 400 yards and 500 yar.'s, any position. It was onjnrial'y ii. tended that the match should take place between eight men of each company, but owing to the absence of one of the Eifle?, Lieut Hannah of the I.V.A. stood out. The following is the score, which, considering that a strong gale of wind was blowing at the time of shooting, is creditable to both companies : —
