A portion of the bridge has been carried away. All the rivers are much swollen with the late rains. Dunedin, Dec, 12. The Heart of Oak crushing yielded 1180 ozs from 200 tons. At Messrs Driver, Stewart & Co.'s ! wool sale there was a good attendance, and brisk competition. Greasy merino fetched Is to Is 4d ; half cross-bred, la l^d to Is 2d; washed, Is 5d to Is 6^d. The English Synod has met. Only urgent business will be taken into consideration. At the Mount Ida races, Kate Kearney won the Maiden Plate ; Flying Handicap, Hatred 1, Lyndon 2 ; Granl Handicap, , lambourni 1, Miss Kiug 2.
