(From files per Bangitoto.) London, Nov. 6. France pays to Prussia this week 200 millions as a further instalment of the indemnity money. A proposition to elect M. Thiers as President of the French Republic for a period of four years is to be submitted to the Assembly. The Czar Alexander of Russia has sent an autograph letter to Prince Frederick Charles, in which are expressed friendly sentiments towards Prussia. Nov. 7. The new Californian, Australian, and New Zealand Steamship Company has been formed. Tbe company has purchased "Webb's mail contract and vessels, forming together a wealthy combination, of which Mr Webb is president. Mr Grace has been appointed manager in London of the National Bank of New Zealand. At the Telegraph Celebration Dinner, to be held on the 15th inst., at the Cannon-street Hotel, the wires are to be brought into the room for communicating with the colonies. Australian gold has been taken for Germany. » Arrived.— Galatea. Nov. 8. Mr Horace Greeley has resumed the editorship of the New York Tribune. . * Sir J, D. Coleridge, the AttorneyGeneral, in addressing a meeting at the Liverpool Institute, said that moderation in dealing with education was necessary in order that the religious element should not be sacrificed. He afterwards delivered a speech laudatory of the measures of the Government, in which he declared the Home Rule idea to be both absurd and impracticable. Sir John Coleridge has declined to succeed Lord Penzance as Judge of the Divorce Court. TheFreDch province of tbe Marne and .Haute Marne have been evacuated by the German troops. Nov. 11. Sir James Hannen, one of the judges of tbe Court of Queen's Bench, has been appointed successor to Lord Penzance, as Judge of tbe Divorce Court. --, The City Flour Mills, situated in Blackfrairs, have been destroyed by fire, and 200.000 quarters of grain burned. Nov. 12. The intelligence of the disastrous fire at Boston caused something like a panic ou the Stock Exchange yesterday, but the excitement has in a great measure calmed down. The fire by which a portion of the city of Boston has been destroyed, was only arrested by the blowing up of a number of buildings, and thus leaving open spaces. The latest return received itates that the loss of property amounts to 80,000,000 dol. The English insurance companies lose heavily ; many of them held large risks. fhe district destroyed consisted principally of new granite buildings, which comprised 939 business premises and 60 dwelling-houses, covering nearlj 70 ■ acres: Mr Boutwell, Secretary to the Treasury (United States), in order as much as possible to prevent a panic, and alleviate distress, will aid by selling gold largely. Sir Henry Eawlinson, K.C.8., president of the Royal Geographical Society, in his inaugural address, delivered before tho Society, declared that Mr Stanley, the American explorer, who proceeded to Central Africa in search of Dr Livingstone, had well earned the Society's medal. Sir Henry Rawlinson also announced that the friends of Dr Livingstone had organised a relief expedition, to start from the West Coast of Africa up to the Congo River.
