Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report for the week ending November 9th, as follows : — Fat Cattle.—72 head were yarded, which, being a number in excess of trade requirements, were told at a slight reduction on late values. Our tales comprised 54 head, at from £6 17s 6d to £10 12s 6d for bullocks, and £4 to £7 L7s 6d for cows, equal to 27s 6d per ICOibe for prime quality, and 22s 6d to 25s for middling do. fat Sheep.—B7o penned. We sold 217 halfbreda at 18s 6d each, and 150 merinos at 15s to 15s 6d. We quote prime half-breds, 4^d per ib ; do merinos, 43. Far Lambs.—27 penned, which we sold at 11s 3d each. Store Cattle.—There is a good demand for steers and dry cows for fattening, the forirer being worth £3 10a to £4; and the latter £2 10» to £3 ss. Our sales comprise 150 head at quotetious. Store Sheep.—"We have buyers for half-breds and shorn wethers, but there are no transactions to report. Country Sales.—On Tuesday, sth inst., we held oar monthly sale at Mosgiel, which, as usual, — &tcrKerea-»—good attendance. We disposed of 148 sfr-re cattle, at from £3 15s to £4 5a for steers, and £2 12a 6d to £3 for heifers and cows, and a few fat cattle at £6 to £7 7s 6d. Oh Ihuraday, 7th inst., our monthly sale at Palmer•ton took place. Buyers were numerous, and competition spirited. 96 head of cattle were disposed of—stores at. £2 2a to £4, and fat cattle £o 10s to £7 7s 8d ; also, a few Vi S ht draught howes, at from £19 10s to £28. Horses.—Good heavy draughts and coaching horses continue in request; other sorts neglected. We quote first-claes draughts, £45 to £55; medium do, £25 to £30; good hacks and light harness horses, £20 to £25 ; medium do, £10 to £14; light and inferior do, £3 to £5. Wool, &c—The arrival of the Californian mail places us in possession of no news regarding the wool market. At our usual weekly sale on Wednesday last, we offered and disposed of 20 balei washed and erreasy wool, and 1500 sheepskins and hides. The prices obtained were —For washed slipe wool, merino, Is 6d per lb; half-bred. 22d ; greasy merino, 13£ d ; station ■kins, merino, 3* lid to 5s lOd each ; half-bred, 6s lOd to 8s 4d ; green skins, merino, 6s 10d ; half-bred, 9s to da lOd. Hides, 15s 3d to 17s. A few casks of tallow brought 33s to 33s 6d per cwt. Grain.—There continues a good demand for first-class camples of wheat, of which very little is offering, but we cannot yet quote any advance on late rates. Oats are in brisk de-nand at 2s 2d to 2s 3d per bushel for milling qualities, and 2s Id for rVed.
