D. Macrorie, auctioneer, reports :— The sale of town properties on Wednesday did not prove very attractive as far as the attendance was concerned; nor can 'the value of the principal lot offered hare been taken much into consideration when the best bid I received for the family residence in Spe-f street, having a frontage of 120 feet, was only £290, at which price it was withdrawn, and is now in the market by private treaty. The cottage, comer of Jed and Spey streets, was bid to £38, and likewise withdrawn, and has since been let, subject to being sold at an advanced rate. The cottage in Leet street, having a frontage of 30 feet, realised £44 cash, but these must not be taken as any criterion of prices, which have without doubt materially improved, but in each case some imaginary drawback in . point of locality or otherwise has operated against disposal. Albion Yards, October 31st, 1872.
