GERMANY.
The Emperor of Russia and the Grand Duke Vladimir arrived in Berlin on the sth September, and were met by the JSmperor and Priuce Frederick William, '
and a large number of other Grerman Princes. The Ministers, with Chancellor Biamarck at their head, the most famous Generals of the army, aad the chief dignitaries of the Imperial Court, were also present. The CVir, on alighting, saluted and embraced the Emperor in a most cordial , manner. The two Btnperors entered the ! same carriage, and passed slawly through. [ the streets, amid the cheers "of, an immense multitude. The Imperial carriage stopped at the Russian embassy, into which the Emperor Alexander was conducted, when he was met by the Empress Augusta, and the Princess Victoria, wife of the Crown Prince. Later in the dav the Czar proceeded to the Imperial Court, where he was received and entertained by the E-nperor "William. After making quite a long vi3it the Czar returned to. the Embassy. . The Emperor of Austria met with a most enthusiastic reception from, the neople in his progress through Germany. ' lie arrived at Berlin on the evening of. the 6th September. Precisely the same ceremonies were accorded to him as to the Czar. As the two Grerman Emperors rode side by side through the streets, the popular enthusiasm was greater than the day before. In the evening a Court dinner wa3 given at the Imperial palace^ The Emperor William gave the toast " Our G-ueats," and the Emperor of Austria proposed the health of the Gferman Emperor and family. The Czar's toast was, "To valiant Grer?nan3." The festivities terminated by a monster torchlight procession, and the playing of the Prussian tattoo by 112 £ musicians. The Czar made Prince Frederick Charles Frederick Henry Albert, Fiel.i Marshal of the Russian army. Prince Gortschakoff had a long conference with Prince Bismarck. There have been serious riots in. Rhenish Prussia owing to the attempt tf> enforce the expulsion of the Jesuits, but the Government firmly suppressed the disturbance;*.
