Mr F. R. White, forwarding agent, reports that the rate, of carriage between Winton and Kingston is now £4 10s.

GK F. Martin and Co. report :— Horses. — On Saturday, the 7th, our weekly •ale of horses, held at the yards, was largely attended, and we are glad to be able to report a marked improvement on previous quotations for this stock, particularly as regards draughts ; the stock offered were mostly of medium quality, but the bidding in each case was remarkably brisk, and good prices realised. We sold several hacks »t from £12 to £19, also several medium draughts from £20 to £28, the sale clesing with considerable enquiry for further supply, which leads us to believe that this class of stock will command a good market during the ensuing season. fat Sheep. — The demand for this stock is largely in excess of the supply, the late severe weather having reduced the station nocks to little better than stores, consequently the only lots available are those fed on turnips during the winter, which are remarkably scarce. We have several offers from Dunedin for prime quality, at 6d per Ib, and quote the local market at 4£d per lb. Fat Cattle. — We have no transactions to report. There is considerable enquiry, but none offering. We quote prime beef at 25s per lOOlbs. Store. Cattle. — The descriptions offering are mostly of medium quality and young, which command rery low rates. We have placed one mob of this description at 325. We have a fair enquiry for store bullocks and spayed cows, which we quote at from £3 to £3 10s. £}tore Sheep. — We have no transactions to report, but have heard of 1000 merino wethers changing hands at Bs. Inrercargill, Sept. 9, 1872.
