A REPLY TO FATHER CARDEN.

Sir, — Father Carden has proved nothing but that, unfortunately for himself, poor man! he is the mouth-piece here of a system which is built upon a perversion of the truth. His latest proof to this effect ia given in yesterday's Times, where he first quotes one-half of a statement in my letter of 19th inst., and then proceeds to use this half quotation for the purp >se of deliberate misrepresentation. If any one thinks this statement too severe, let him refer to Father Carden's letter in the Times of Friday, and mine in the previous issue, to which it professes to be a reply. There is no use going over the ground ayatn. — I am, &c, A Catholic, but not a Papist. July 27, 1872.
