Auckland, June 20. The proposed meeting of the Kingite natives has broken through, owing to an intertribal dispute respecting the subjects to be discussed and the place of meeting. An English company has offered to construct a railway from Point Eussell to the Thames. The offer baa been forwarded to the Minister for Public Works. The terms are undisclosed. The prospectus of tbe Soutb British Fire Insurance Company, with a capital of £50,000, in 25,000 shares, has been issued. It is intended as a sister institution to tbe New Zealand Insurance Company. At tbe half-yearly meeting of tbe New Zealand Insurance Company, a dividend of ten per cent, was declared, -635,000 being carried to the re-insurance fund, and £2,167 to next year's account. Tattbaitga, June 20. Two gold-bearing reefs have been discovered near Katikati. Wangastut, June 20. A meeting bas been convened for Friday to fit out prospectors for the Tubua goldfields. Several diggers are in Wanganui awaiting an opportunity to proceed there. Nelson, June 20. Mr O'Connor bas withdrawn his action against the members of tbe Provincial Council. He bas relinquished tbe land at Westport, and received back his money. Chetstchtjbch, June 20. In tbe Provincial Council, Mr Brown . withdrew bis motion. for. appointing. the Superintendent as chief of the Executive, and governable by a majority of the Executive. The Council bas been prorogued. 1 Messrs Hart, Jebsoh, and Bluett, candidates for the representation of the Coleridge district in the Assembly, have delivered addresses.
