The following has been collected as Customs Revenue during the week ending Saturday, March 23rd : —

G. F. Martin & Co. report :— The news received by the last Suez mail of a further advance of 2d at the last wool sales, and the continued demand for Australian and New Zealand preserved meats, have caused a still greater enquiry for sheep of all kinds. The demand for store wethers, 4 and 6 tooth, is greatly in excess of the supply, and as the scarcity appears general throughout the province, purchasers are inclined to meet their requirements with full-mouthed ewes and wethers. We sold the following lotß during the week to a Dunedin buyer, viz., 1000 8 tooth wethers at 5s ; 900 do full-mouthed and over at 4s 6d ; and 1000 full-mouthed ewes at 3s 3d. We have considerable enquiry for 2 tooth rams, both £ and f bred I Lincoln or Leicester, and have several transac- J tions pending inspection. The cattle market ■ remains firm at last quotations, but we have no transactions to report. Grain. — New wheat i 6 Baleable at 4s 6d ; oats are dull of sale at Is 8d to Is 6d ; good malting barley is worth from 4s to 4s 3d. Invercargill, March 25, 1872.
