The steamers Taranaki and Claud Hamilton left Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. on the 22nd, thick weather with light easterly winds being experienced down the coast, the Taranaki arriving at the wharf at 8 o'clock the following morning, and the Claud Hamilton shortly after. The Taranaki discharged 20 tons of cargo, and loaded with preserved meat and tallow (220 tons), and sailed for Port Chalmers at daylight on Sunday morning. The Claud Hamilton took in 30,000 feet of timber, and sailed for Melbourne at 5 p.m. on the 23rd.
