The Cortes re-assembled January 22, the new Minister being present. After an exposition of the Government programme, the Chamber proceeded to the election of a President, when Senor Herrerra, the Ministerial candidate, was defeated. The Ministerial resignation, offered in consequence, was refused, and the Cortes was dissolved. Dissensions in the Cabinet have arisen relative to the military command in Cuba. A solemn funeral service has been held at Madrid in honor of the late Marshal Prim, the king being present.
