The Nightingale arrived here on Sunday afternoon. She left Dunedin on the 2nd, strong head winds being experienced on the passage. She will load timber for Melbourne. The ship Margaret Galbraith, from Glasgow, arrived in Port Chalmers on the 7th inst., after a good passage of 9 J days. She brings 47 passengers, all of whom have enjoyed good health during the voyage. mmiecsan, xuacKWooa ana co.'o b.b. naugitviu, with the New Zealand portion of the English mail via Suez, left Hobson's Bay at 4.30 p.m. on the 21st alt., and cleared Port Phillip Heads at 8 o'clock ; passed Wilson's Promontory at 7 a.m. next day, and arrived off Hokitika at midnight on the 27th ; transhipped mails, passengers, and 70 tons cargo into the steam tender Waipara, and left at 9 a.m. on the 28tb, and arrived off the Grey at 10.45 a.m. ; was tendered by the p.B. Despatch at noon, and left at 1 p.m. for Nelson, arriving off the Boulder Bank at 9 30 a.m. on the 29 th ; left at 12 o'clock on the Ist inßt , and reached Wellington at 8 p.m. ; left Wellington at noon on the 3rd, and arrived in Lyttelton at 7 a.m. on the 4th ; left at 10 p.m. game day, called in at Timaru and Oamaru to land cargo, arriving in Port Chalmers at 7 a.m. on the 7th; left at 4 p.m. on the Bth, and arrived at 8 a.m. on the 9th.
