THE BLUFF ROAD.

Sib, — I have seen your notice of the state of the bridge over the Mokotua creek on the Bluff Road, and as the repairs hare not been effected, I must trouble you to insert this, believing that it is only by continued pressure that the work will be performed. Yesterday I crossed and recTOSsed at imminent danger the said bridge, my only alternative being either to do so, or to risk the bogging or drowning of my horae in the creek. I believe I should have been justified in setting fire to, or pulling down the present standing portion of the bridge, to prevent loss of life or serious injury, which will certainly be the case before long, if the work is not proceeded with. I have been informed that the Road Inspector is aware of the state of the matter, and why it is so long permitted to exist, needs explanation. The Road Inspector needs to take action to prevent the extensive encroachment on the road going on in the neighborhood of the saw mills in operation on the Line of road. At Mr Brown's mill the roadway is left barely wide enough for a vehicle, and the tram crossing the road i« of a dangerous character. If this encroachment be allowed, it is reasonable to suppose that in every case the obstruction will in course of time become equally great, and where a tram for business purposes may be required to cross a thoroughfare, it should be under stringent regulations. — I am, Ac, Tbavelleb.
