MELBOURNE.

We take the following reports from the Telegraph of the 16th inst. : —

Breadstuff's are in moderate request, and in wheat a fair demand haa been experienced at from. 03 to 5s 4ci per bushel. Flour is still quoted at from £L 2 15s to £13, but only trade lota can be quitted. Maize is firm at 3s lid to 4s, and oats have been disposed of at prices ranging between 3s and 3a 6J. We hear of very few transactions in sugar, holders showing no inclination to press sale 3. We notice that a sale was made of Patna rice (damaged), ex Barentin, from Java, consisting of about 3000 bags, at from £12 7s 6J to £18 per ton, net cash. Sales of malt, hops, candles, and currants have been effected at about ruling prices, but the quantities would barely afford a quotation. Geneva (JDKZ) changed hands at 11s 6d per case. Several parcel of ale and stout have been quitted at rates ranging from 8s to 9s par dozen lor medium stout and very superior ale.

Messrs R. Goldsbrough. and Co. report : — Wool — To-day we held a, special Bale of Binall

lots, consisting chiefly of odd bales, and we also had a special sale of another cargo from the wreck of the Loch Leven, consisting of 271 bales. There was a full attendance of the trade, and prices were well maintained, greasy realising 7^d to Is Oid, and inferior to ordinary fleece" la 24 d to Is 5d per- lb.
