A COMPLAINT.
(to thi Ebnxm of th> tub.) Sib.— l take the liberty to call attention to the scandalous reports going about (by person* who ought to know better), to the injury of the commercial standing of people in TnveroargilL In oar dull state it does us a great deal of harm, and causes a want of confidence. Person* who have nothing else to do make one man insolvent on* day, and another another day, thereby creating ■> want of confidence to the storekeepers and others. In our small community ererybodf know* another's business better than he does himself. I consider that it would be much wiser if they took the American's advice, who, when asked bow he made his large fortune, replied, " I made twenty thousand a-year by minding my own affair*, and fifty thousand by letting other people* alone." It would be much better for all to praise Invereargill and it* inhabitant* than otherwise.— Your*, Inrercargill, June 20th, 1870.
