PRESERVED MEATS.
In our Circular of 28th January we stated that we bad requested Professor Gamgee to pack, on the most approved plan for shipment to the Colodj, three carcases of sheep, preserved according to his process; and we have the pleasure now to say that they will be shipped in the course of the next fortnight by the "Excelsior," " Monarch," and "Leucadia," for Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago respectively. The delay has arisen in consequence of Professor Gamgee having been absent abroad, hi order still further to test or perfect his plan of packing. A Bale . of Australian beef, mutton, mutton hams, tongues, Ac., was held on the sth instant by Mr D. T&lerman, on behalf of the Australian Meat Agency. There was a large attendance, but few buyers, the lots sold having been parted with at low price. The balk, however, was bought in. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, London, 22nd April, 1870.
