The Argus of the 28th ult. reports : — In the import markets to-day, nothing has transpired worfch special attention. Inquiries for goods have been on a very moderate scale, and little beyond the ordinary demand for trade requirements has been made public. Breadstuff's continue firm at the slight advance lately estabv lished, flour being moved off very freely at £11 5»" to £11 10s. Supplies of wheat came more readily to hand thia morning, but the deoi aid is active and jull rates are obtained for any parcels offering, 4s lOd to ss, according to sample, being paid without any seeming reluctance on the part of buyers. There is no change to report in maize. Trade parcels are moved off at 4s for good old. Oats still meet with a free market at 3s 8d to 3s lOd. For candles we note an occasional inquiry for best brands at lOJd ; De Roubaix Jenar's are scarce and wanted, and consequently are more asked for. Outside brands are difficult, to quit at almost any price. Kerosene oil is in a little more , favour at improved rates. Sales have been made which show an advance of one halfpenny on the rates ruling at the beginning of the week. We hear of some 2,000 cases having been placed at 2s 2d to 2s 2Jd- In liquids, sales of Hennessy's case brandy are recorded at up to 26s 3d.
