QUEENSLAND.
ROCKHAMPTON, Oct. 18th. The prisoner Williams, tried for complicity in the murder of Mr Halligan, has been found guilty, and sentenced to death. He read a defence which lasted over two hours, in which he protested his innocence. The burden of it was that he accidentally came upon the scene, and was compelled to go with the murderers after the deed was committed. Archibald, the publican, is being tried. Oct. 19th. Archibald, the publican, put on his trial yesterday for the murder of Mr Halligan, challenged 17 of the jurors. The principal point in his defence is that the prisoner confessed under the terms of the reward issued by the Government.
